Caspian Horses

We are dedicated to breeding quality Caspian horses known for producing kind, athletic partners for youth riders and elegant, competitive driving horses.

The Caspian horse is uniquely proportioned like a full-sized horse in a smaller package. They possess a refined yet strong build, natural balance, and exceptional agility. Originally developed to pull Persian chariots and further shaped by centuries of natural selection, the breed is recognized for its genetic soundness, durability, and overall health.

Caspian horses typically mature between 11–12.2 hands, offering versatility for both mounted and driven disciplines.

Athletic Versatility

Caspian horses excel across a wide range of performance activities:

Under Saddle

  • Youth riding mounts

  • Gymkhana and mounted games

  • Trail riding and mountain terrain

  • Cross-rail and lower-level jumping

  • Endurance riding

In Harness

  • Pleasure and competitive driving

  • Driving dressage with expressive, suspended movement

  • Marathon phase work requiring stamina and agility

  • Cones precision driving

  • Pair and small turnout driving

Their efficient movement, strong hindquarters, and natural impulsion make them especially well-suited for the demands of Combined Driving Events (CDE). Caspians demonstrate the endurance for marathon phases, the accuracy for cones, and the elegant, ground-covering gaits needed in the dressage phase.

Temperament & Trainability

Caspian horses are:

  • Intelligent and quick to learn

  • Willing and people-oriented

  • Kind-hearted and dependable

  • Naturally balanced with smooth, flowing motion

They develop into responsive driving partners with the presence and expression valued in the dressage arena, while still retaining the sensible minds that make them suitable for young riders.

Originating in ancient Persia, the Caspian is considered one of the oldest surviving horse breeds in the world today. With an estimated global population of only around 1,000, they remain a critically rare and valuable breed.

Our goal is to foster a thriving, high-quality herd while helping more families discover the Caspian as both a youth mount and a refined driving athlete. We are committed to breeding only verified, conformationally correct, and temperament-sound horses.
